Students in my class will get their results on Monday, and Miss Good's classes on Tuesday. Some students in my class already have their results and I shall happily email anyone else who can't wait and decides to contact me.
Mr Richards will be joining us on Monday 11 January and will teach Mrs Nicoll's classes through to the summer at least.
Psychology students MUST get a completed Assignment uploaded as soon as possible. It is worth 40% of your course!
Prelim timetable has been uploaded here.
We now have a department twitter account at https://twitter.com/MrSutherland999
Really pleased that Mr Richards has agreed to join us in January while Mrs Nicoll is on maternity leave. Mr Richards has been teaching at Dalziel High School for the last year and a half.
Not something I would condone, let me tell you. However, a HUGE shout out to the Psychology student from Aberdeen whose tutor caught him plagiarising from my humble site. Now to get my all of my own students to bother...
Rose and Grace have won through to the next stage of the ESU Juniors. It was an excellent performance as the youngest team in their first debate. Eleanor and Sophia also did very well, but were unlucky not to make it through.
The Rotary Youth Speaks competition on Tuesday was a superb event as always.
Our Junior team of Sophia, Cara and Eleanor won through to the next stage with their chosen topic of Refugees. Our Senior team of Deborah, Caitlin and Megan were desperately unlucky to be eliminated after a stunning presentation on their topic of Very British Values.
Thursday 5 November (Remember Remember and all that) - S1 test on Ultimate Questions.
Friday 6 November - Higher Psychology test on Conformity & Obedience
and Nat 5 Psychology test on Conformity & Nonverbal Communication
I have decided to password protect certain parts of the site. If you need access, contact me; identify yourself and which class you are in and I'll give you a password.
Results generally good once again. Particularly pleased with Advanced Higher, with 92% passing and a large number of students successfully 'crashing' the course.
Congratulations to everyone who got the results they were hoping for!
I have added the revised, expanded and improved Philosophy of Religion notes. Next up is Medical Ethics, then Stress for Higher Psychology by the end of the weekend. That's the plan anyway!
I have made a start on putting course outlines and key dates (eg assessments) for all the certificate courses for next session.
The Nat 5 Psychology exam seemed quite straightforward. The new Higher exam was a bit messy in places. 8 marks for Ethics seemed to be excessive, but I had emphasised repeatedly that some question on Ethics would come up and that it is being given greater importance than ever. The biggest issue was the question on Wellbeing in Individual Behaviour. This is not part of the Course Assessment Specification, and should not have been asked. In saying that, applying knowledge to real-life situations is part of Psychology study.
The new S5/6 classes arrive today, and I have uploaded the revised Philosophy of Religion revision booklet to the Advanced Higher section.
I have noticed that the revision notes are not compatible with every browser. Generally, they should be fairly straightforward to read from a home PC. However, they cannot be read from school or on a phone. So, I have begun uploading them in a different format. You should find the most recent notes on the Higher Psychology exam are possible to read on any device.
